Two disintegrating tintype portraits of women, ca. 1880s

Two sixth plate tintypes of women, one positioned low in the frame; the other standing behind a chair with her arms crossed--in contrast to portraits where a standing woman puts her hand on the shoulder of a seated man. Both have surface wear and darkening, but the second is actively flaking. Immensely evocative.
