The Possible You
New York: Abingdon Press, 1917. First Edition. First printing. Green cloth 12mo, 60pp. Near Fine with a hint of sunning and rubbing to extremities. Bookplate to front pastedown, contents clean and unmarked. Espey was associated with the Young Womens Christian Association. Her first book, 'Leaders of Girls' was inspired by and dedicated to Vanderbilt heiress and YWCA benefactor Marguerite Shepard and was strongly endorsed by the organization. This, her second book, distills parts of 'Leaders...' into half-page vignettes, primarily metaphors addressing topics of personal development in young women. Does not explicitly address God or religion, morality or prayer, but has the kind of rhetoric you might expect from a slightly cool and wise youth counselor. Scarce, 6 copies in OCLC.
