The Essayes of Michael Lord of Montaigne (Montaigne's Essays, 3 volumes in Bayntun Riviere fine binding)
20th-century printing of Florio's translation of Montaigne, bound by Bayntun Riviere in Bath, England, and so signed on the verso of the marbled flyleaves. Three volumes bound in half blue crushed morocco with splendid Art Deco patterned boards, five raised bands with spine compartments and upper edges gilt. Repair to front joint of volume one, tidy color restoration to the leather edges on each volume still with some cracking/rubbed leather peeking through. Mild sunning to spines and shallow losses at either end. Overall Very Good, contents clean and unmarked. Now housed in fitted mylar wraps and looking sharp.
