Retail Druggists' Diary and Want Book (1886)
...Containing 16 Pages of Important Tables and Information, 52 pages of diary, with space for each day of the year for entering memoranda, 12 pages of Want Book, for entering wants and purchases, one hundred pages priced pharmaceutical catalogue, with 874 illustrations, over 14,000 items. Ninety-eight pages priced catalogue, 194 illustrations of non-secret medicines, toilet and domestic articles with buyer's address.
Large brick cloth 8vo, 10.25 x 7.5 inches, multiple paginations. Profusely illustrated and printed on varying paper stocks. Good with heavy rubbing and fraying to corners and spine ends, hinges exposed; discoloration to cloth and tidemarks visible around the edges of the bound-in wraps, occasionally visible in text (depending on paper stock). No annotations on the diary or memo pages. A clever means of packaging several Stearns & Co. catalogs dating back to 1883 into a "Diary and Want Book," including the company's "popular non-secret medicines" (generics) that could be branded for individual pharmacies.
