Reprise Perdue (mending examples from French sewing course)
Student Simone Pons' hand fashioned 'cours de couture' portfolio with four panels of heavy paper stock that fold inward to 10.25 x 6.75, pockets and spine reinforced with gummed paper. Contains 4 examples of mending techniques executed on a rather open weave, slick pink fabric, each measuring about 4.75" square. The examples are mounted with tiny brads which allow the pieces to be flipped up and examined from both sides. A teacher's note tucked in the front pocket seems to indicate that the technique is correct but the application is illogical and poorly executed--lots of looose threads that wouldn't appear to be very durable, but have a nice aesthetic quality. 13/20 marks for Simone.
