Navy cloth 12mo, 328pp. Color frontis and 15 plates; lacking a portrait of Isaac Newton, but retaining 4 great color illustrations and, among other charming views, a photo of a young woman at Lick Observatory (144). In handsome pictorial cloth binding, slightly shaken, else Very Good with light rubbing to extremities.

A work on astronomy by children's writer, Agnes Giberne, described in The Cambridge Guide to Women's Writing in English: "This long-lived English writer of dismal evangelical tales for children also produced some immensely readable and highly regarded beginners' guides to scientific subjects such as astronomy and geology” (p.271).
