Hailmann, W. N. (William Nicholas)
Primary Methods: A complete and methodical presentation of the use of kindergarten material in the work of the primary school
... unfolding a systematic course of manual training in connection with arithmetic, geometry, drawing, and other school-studies
New York and Chicago: A. S. Barnes & Co., 1887. First Edition. Publisher's decorative gilt-stamped cloth binding, 8vo; 166 + 18p ads. Dedicated to the trustees of LaPorte Public Schools, where Hailmann was serving as Superintendent at the time of publication. Scarce work outlining methods for teachers to incorporate Froebel gifts into the classroom and "guard them against the evils of random "busy work.'" Copious monochrome illustrations with particular emphasis on the use of manual training in developing arithmetic—some of the more unusual Froebel images we've come across.
