State of Indiana Institutional Industries Catalog
Maroon softcover leatherette 4to with coil binding, no date or pagination, but OCLC records a single copy at Indiana State (1952, 148 pages). The first four pages have been casually repurposed (then crudely restored) as a recipe scrapbook, the result being something between postmodern art and palimpsest, with no hope of fully recovering certain details about prison industries or baked fudge squares. Fortunately, the recipe for chocolate fluff icing and all of the catalog pages remain intact. Contents otherwise unmarked and with intermittent soil and foxing; heavier soil and wear to covers.
Copiously and compellingly illustrated in the usual halftone fashion. Sections include: Foundry Ware, Tin Ware, Brooms and Brushes (including the "Liberty," "Winner," and "Champion" models), Mops and Dusters, Soap Department, Clothing, Shoes, Building Supplies, Paint, Wood Furniture, Metal Beds and Files, Mattresses, Floor Mats, Door Mats, Flags (Indiana State and "Red Danger"), Hoosier Tobacco for spitting or smoking, and an extensive selection of folksy Hickory Furniture, including swing gliders, juvenile settees, high chairs, and those picnic tables you see outside interstate rest stops.
