No date, ca. 1873. Oblong small quarto, 7 x 10 inches, bound in pebbled cloth with beveled boards.  leaves, 15 leaves of plates. Very Good with mild rubbing, predominantly to the spine head. Modest foxing to an otherwise clean and sturdy text block. The first alphabet book published by Prang Last page advertises several early Prang publications and cites the success of Prang's American Chromos at the World's Fair in Vienna (1873). Unlike later Prang alphabets which featured the company's ornate chromolithographed scripts, this is largely a practical reference volume with 3 plates of emblematic letters in printed in 3-color woodblock, the remaining 12 plates printed in black, with up to 4 alphabets on each.
