Philadelphia Textile Institute: Two sets of notes in Fabric Analysis and Weave Formation
Philadelphia: [Philadelphia Textile Institute], 1953.
Two notebook sections, one housed in green binder, other on loose ring. Completed by student Robert Salkoff in 1953. Soil to binder, pages with frequent tears at the hole punches, creasing and edgewear. Discoloration to the tape and glue used for mounting, and occasional residue suggests 3-4 of the small mounted chart segments in "Weave Formation" have fallen off, occasional paper remainder where the paint stuck to the facing page, but overall Very Good with substantial examples.
Fabric Analysis: 8 “textile analysis” folios with 20 mounted fiber and fabric samples, 100 leaves with printed text, occasional diagrams and illustrations, one leaf with manuscript notes (also peppered throughout the printed pages). Ply, counting threads, balancing weight, textures, etc.
Weave Formation: One large painted gouache design and folio chart. Approx. 70 leaves of printed text interspersed with manuscript notes; 16 plates with painted weaving drafts, alternate views of loom setups, and 10 mounted fabric samples.
