Love and Parentage Applied to the Improvement of Offspring... [with] Amativeness; or Evils and Remedies of Excessive and Perverted Sexuality...

Fortieth edition. New York: Samuel R. Wells, [nd].

Full titles: Love and Parentage, Applied to the Improvement of Offspring: Including Important Directions and Suggestions to Lovers and the Married Concerning The Strongest Ties and the Most Momentous Relations of Life [with] Amativeness; or Evils and Remedies of Excessive and Perverted Sexuality Including Warning and Advice to the Married and Single.

Stated fortieth edition, ca. 1870. Blind embossed cloth 12mo; (2), 144, 72, (4) pp. Very Good with mottling, most prominent along the spine and rear board. With the usual phrenological illustrations and debatable logic—though he does acknowledge, "Physical gender alone, does not exclusively constitute the whole of either the masculine or the feminine..." on page 60 of the first book. A double-header of some of Fowler's more explicit writings on sex with the predictable lamentation of perversion (considered any sexual act or impulse outside marriage). The second book also dedicates a few pages to abortion and the work of Madame Restell (p69).
