Kindergarten Gems For the Little Tots (#4244)
10x13 box with intructions printed under lid; contains 3 color litho plates labeled A-1 through A-3, one “Toy Knitter” with needle, 5 worsteds, 6 large perforated cards (1 sewn) and 6 small sewing cards (4 sewn). Box with a variety of repairs from electrical tape to sewn corners. Lacking the second “Toy Knitter;” it is unclear whether the color plates were part of the set. In addition to the fruits and animals, the set has a few less-common images of a blacksmith, a snowman scene, and a girl sitting on a fence.
Described in their 1907 catalog: “A new assortment of popular Kindergarten material. It contains colored sewing cards, perforated cards, two Toy Knitters with needles, colored worsteds, etc. All put up in an attractive box covered with red leather paper printed in gilt. This is one of the best assortments we have ever put up for the money.”
