Postcard, 3 x 5 inches, mailed to "Theol. School, Meadville Pa." with a partial, illegible cancel. Light soil and slight crease to lower right corner, VG. "Thorough--correct--comprehensive--appealing to the story-interest of the reader and student--no other history is as charming and less irksome to the scholar, than this..." Originally published in London as a serial (1851-1853), then a "triple decker" by Bradbury & Evans (1852-1854); "Carleton's School Edition" appears in the publisher's ads beginning in 1875.
