Geometrical Drawing: A Collection of Plates for Practical Use in Elementary Mechanical Drawing

San Francisco: Whitaker and Ray-Wiggin Co., 1915.

Oblong 8vo, cloth backed boards, xii, 66 numbered plates. Very Good with rubbing and soil to the boards, bumped around the edges. Front flyleaf with a few marks, including signature of John Hulen, and upper corner torn away (approx. 1.5"sq). Occasional pencil marks, mostly numbers written into the allocated boxes above several plates and a few mathematical calculations on the blank versos.

Schraidt was Head of the Department of Drawing at Oakland High School (CA). This book serves as a bank of plates from which instructors could assemble drawing courses tailored to given trades. Includes basic geometric guides, decorative patterns and ornament, lettering alphabets, and a range of advanced geometrical and mechanical drafting calculations. "...a series of sixty practical plates for Geometrical or Elementary Mechanical Drawing for Secondary and Primary Schools, From these the instructor or student is to select a number of plates according to requirement or taste. A set of twenty-five plates is suggested as equivalent to a school year's work..." Available digitally, but only 6 physical copies recorded in OCLC.
