Dr. J.H. McLean
Explanation of Dreams (Dr. J.H. McLean, cover title: No. 2 Dreaming)
A scarce pamphlet by one of the country's favorite quacks, Dr. J.H. McLean, best known for his "Volcanic Oil Linament." Ca. 1870s 31pp booklet in pictorial wraps, 5 x 3.5 inches. "No. 2, Dreaming" is worked into the cover vignette and the volume has the running title "Explanation of dreams." Dream interpretation was a fashionable pastime, with many "dream guides" published to aid the fun. McLean's guide to symbolism is interspersed with direct petitions to women about their fevers and children, some mild scare tactics and light musical accompaniment. Mild soil to wraps, otherwise in Near Fine condition. Not located in OCLC.
