Columbia Practical System of Vertical Writing (Common School Course No. 3)
Softcover, 8.5 x 7 inches, 24pp. Engraved illustrations inside the front wrap. Completed copy book of vertical writing with nice practice specimens also used for teaching basic facts (Ocean, the largest body of water...Iron is the most useful metal... Day and night, equal at equinoxes." A few of the examples repeat, including the demonstrative, "Keep the book straight," which our writer seemed to struggle with only during that exercise... perhaps a bit of a trouble maker? Mary Crawford's name on the cover, but it actually looks like the book may have been used by 2 different students--the handwriting in the top exercises has a slightly angle than those on the bottom and the bottom exercises are only completed up to page 12. An uncommon teaching series for a common writing style, in great condition.
