Aunt Mary's Series: Aladin and His Wonderful Lamp
Copyright 1856. including wraps. Color printed wraps with 8 hand-colored engravings, 10.5 x 6.75 inches. Spelled "Aladin" on cover and "Aladdin" throughout text. The titles on the rear wrap and address on the cover indicate this would have been printed 1859-1962. Wraps split cleanly along spine with the advantage of being able to fully open the pages. Otherwise about Near Fine with mild fingersoil and a subtle hint of foxing. An early, pre-"chromo" McLoughlin printing with coloring applied by hand using stencils. John McLoughlin had notably published an earlier version of the story in verse, 'The History of Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp.' This title was the first in the "Aunt Mary's Series," and among the McLoughlin Brothers' earliest publications.
