Vision Training Stereoscope set from Teunis Opticians

ca. 1950s eye training cards and partial "No. 50 Home Training Stereoscope" viewer. 12 stereoview cards labeled EC 41 through 52 in box, appear to be a complete part of a set. Cards have a slight curve, otherwise in fine condition. The body of the viewer is present, but the extension and card holder are missing. The cards can still be effectively viewed by holding them in one hand and the viewer in the other. Keystone View Company "1340 Delta Unit." Branded for use by Teunis Opticians in Washington, DC. Original boxes have their labels mostly worn away, but remain sturdy. Teal box dimensions: 8 x 6 x 4 inches.

The Keystone Eye Training series was developed as a theraputic tool for home use. Different cards were produced to correspond with tests and exercises related to vision acuity, color and depth perception, peripheral vision, stereopsis, etc. The resulting stereo cards feature unusual graphics that are visually compelling as 2D images--and that really do pop when seen through the viewer.
