Insurance Engineering Vol. XII, No. 1, July 1906 [San Francisco disaster]
Softcover 8vo; 1-16, (1)-96, 17-40 pp. "An illustrated international monthly review, devoted to the science of diminishing hazards to property and to life for architects, builders, fire departments, merchants, manufacturers, public officials and fire underwriters." Very Good with shallow chipping around the edges of the wraps, quarter-inch loss at spine heel and bottom rear (not affecting printed area). Copiously illustrated with photographs and pictorial advertisements. Main articles include, "Our National Credit," "Fireproof Abattoirs," "City Fire Protection," and "Building Materials" (with beautiful photo documentation). With a palpable sense of panic and opportunistic advertising, the vast majority of contents relate to the San Francisco earthquake and fires which had devastated the city just two months prior and the true extent of the damage was just starting to come into full view.
