Supplementary Catalogue of Chemical & Physical Apparatus [with] Seibert's Graded Infant-Feeder and Sterilizer advert
Softcover tall 8vo, 10 x 6.75 inches; (279)-333pp. In Fair condition with dampstaining throughout, heavy soil and residue to wraps. The supplement looks like it was in a lab spill itself and is in a sad state, but the Seibert's insert is particularly desirable. Illustrated double-sided folded sheet with feeding chart and directions, Very Good with light soil and a small dog-earred tear (no loss to text). Seibert published "A Reform in Artificial Infant-Feeding..." in 1890 arguing that popular opinions about babies feeding to their content led to overeating. The only guidance for measuring appropriate amounts for bottle feeding, a volumetric quantity developed by Escherich (who marketed his own graduated bottle), were based on age, but Seibert argued that variations in infant size should be the primary consideration. Notice of Eimer & Amend custom glass blowing also laid in.
