Collection of 20 mounted apparel fabric swatches, 1938-1942
Mounted on large index cards, 5 x 8 inches. The cards are housed in a custom wraparound folder, set in mylar sleeves open at the foredge. Two of the cards are in Fair condition, showing heavier soil and one with a tear at the bottom edge. The others are in Good to Very Good condition with mild soil and age toning, some water-bled ink. Likely compiled by a professional sewing student (some signed in the upper corner). The cards give the specifications for each fabric, including size, cost, thread count, weave, fiber and yarn construction, design, finish, and uses; several have additional comments written on the verso. This selection has several patterns and basics for garment making, including Silk Crepe, Broadcloth, Indianhead, Searsucker, Gaberdine, Jersey, Taffeta, etc.
