J. Brown Neil [naturopathy]

Anglo-American Institute of Drugless Therapy student course materials

ca. 1960.

Mimeographed copies of material mostly dated 1959-1960, distributed for a mail-in "N.D." diploma in naturopathy. Letter and eight separately stapled sections, all printed on a random assortment of color paper stock with concerningly crude anatomical illustrations. Very Good+ with minor foxing to the bottom edges, light creasing and soil, curling to the corners of the first two installments. The later sections appear effectively untouched, possibly reflecting waning interest–the complete course contained 42 lessons. The cover letter includes a photo stamp of founder J. Brown Neil and the typed comment, "Send over soon small thesis for the diploma, 3 or 4 pages okay." Based in Bournemouth, Great Britain, the Anglo-American Institute of Drugless Therapy was operated by Dr. J. Brown Neil and secretary Miss M. Johnson. The course materials are dated 1959-1960, but the cover is dated September 1975 (presuming L975 is a typo), reflecting a lack of concern for actual advances in medicine.
