1946 letter from an Army recruit (Green Beret?) in Virginia
4 leaves with 5 pages of writing addressed to no one, but mailed to the young man's parents. Original cover postmarked from Newport News and sent to Mount Joy, PA. Wily fragments scrawled in blue fountain pen on onionskin paper, causing an alluring graphic effect. "There is another beret aboard. Our supervisor is from Texas. A Mennonite... Caught a little cold- maybe it's a reaction to the tetanus infection... received no mail from home. That has been disappointing." The back of the envelope reads: "Edouard Kalpakian is Ok if he should stop by, but he speaks French."
