Single leaf, 6.25 x 8.25 inches, in 14 x 11 acid-free mat and archival sleeve. Loosely mounted with mylar corners so the leaf can be easily removed for examination. Very Good condition with light edgewear. From a mid-19th century French student manuscript on architectural and mechanical drafting containing notes for computational and perspective drawing, studies on light and shade, reflection, etc.An attempt to show an engineered waterway tunnel in perspective with the landscape, along with the reflections of a house, boat, and wildlife. Tunnel drafted strictly in ink, with the rest of the scene sketched in charcoal/conte, at a scale that's intriguing, if not quite on point.
