1870 - Spencerian Penmanship in Twelve Numbers, in an Improved Form of Copy-Book (cover only)

New York: Ivison, Blakemman, Taylor & Co., 1870.

An alternative format to the Spencerian copybooks that provided "12 Sheets of Best Writing Paper, with 24 headlines of Copies of Spencerian Penmanship, in an Improved Form of Copy-Book, Patented, by N. P. Beers, June 7th, 1870." Envelope only, 9 x 7.5 inches, with bold cover graphic engraved by A. McLees. Moderate general soil, stain to the bottom right corner, roughly torn along the right edge. An uncommon vehicle for instruction in the popular Spencerian style, unfortunately lacking the original paper slips but evidence of the less enduring format, and a great graphic.
