Ballad of a Man Named Smith (Signed)

Prairie City, IL: James A. Decker, 1940.

First printing, first edition, 1940. Hardcover 8vo, [21] pages, unnumbered. Presentation copy signed with inscription: "To Sally and Raymond, from Smith's little brother..." — though Sullivan explains in the preface that Smith is a figment of his subconscious, making the inscription a bit curious. A slim volume of verse with marginalia printed in red (the author dubs it the "Ancient Mariner technique"). Peach-colored cloth boards in Very Good condition with light fraying at the tips. An attractive copy; scarce.
