Specimens for Botany Merit Badge 1936 Boy Scout herbarium binder
Requirement Number 1 of the Botany Merit Badge, 50 specimens compiled in June, 1936 by Richard Pierce, Troop 163 Gardiner, Pine Tree Council (appears to be based in Maine). Pebbled cloth hardcover binder, Very Good with some abrasion and the usual dried plant crumble dust collecting in the gutter, mild offsetting. With color flower collector's stickers throughout, specimens labeled in the charming and tentative handwriting of a boy that makes some of the common names seem like decent fodder for calling names on the playground: "False Spikenard," "Jack-in-the-Pulpit," "Golden Ragwort."
