1920s tourist guide outlining Saltburn's historic charms as a spa town while drawing special attention to the modern "medical" treatments, intended to boost its appeal as a medical tourism destination. Includes ads for the Brine and Swimming Baths opened in 1891, "The only brine baths in the North of England under Medical Inspection and approved by Ministry of Health." Not relying on the healing waters alone, and needing to up the ante for medical tourism, they also advertise "Massage and Electrical Treatments by prescription... Electric Massage, Ionic Medication, Faradism, Schnee Baths and Radiant Heat." Handsome and copiously illustrated with regional photographs and ads for the restaurants, clothiers, sweet shops, entertainments and souvenir outlets.
