...According to the Use of The United Church of England and Ireland. With Notes. Illuminated: and Illustrated with Engravings from the Works of the Great Painters

London: John Murray, 1850. First edition published in 1845, this 1850 printing in a binding signed by Remnant Edmonds & Remnants: full brown blind embossed morocco with beveled boards and six raised spine bands; all edges gilt. Ribbon place marker. Hardcover 8vo, 484pp. Good to Very Good: stress to the front joint with splitting to bottom two inches, shallow losses to both spine ends. A few scattered instances of foxing and fingersoil, but overall clean and unmarked. Uneven sunning to the spine and rubbing to the boards, slight loss to the spine ends. Leather has a waxy finish (possible consolidant used?) A celebrated triumph of color lithography, and one of the greatest examples of published work by Owen Jones, one of the most celebrated designers and illustrators of the Victorian era.
