Miners. Washington, Pa. 1940
Gelatin silver photograph of miners in regalia, 5 x 7.25 inches. Housed in an old frame with glazing, 8.75 x 10.75. Backing cardboard labeled in pen, "Taken in 1940 in Washington PA." Originally set with nails, the back has been covered with clear tape. Not inspected outside the frame. Note the miner pressing his finger into the dimple of the man in front of him and the range of coal dust. The miners have lamps around their shoulders or already on their heads. A man in a suit and a long rubber glove lurks to the side.
