Westinghouse Girls Drum & Bugle Corps, with a mini-majorette, ca. 1940

Two 8x10 and three 3x5 inch photographs related to the Westinghouse Electric Manufacturing Co. Girls' Drum & Bugle Corps in East Pittsburg, Pa. Creasing and surface soil, Good overall. Westinghouse moved their main operations to East Pittsburgh in 1895. The "h" at the end of Pittsburgh (as it appears in the banner) went missing from then to around 1911. These photos are closer to 1940 and feature a most remarkable mini-majorette with some killer boots. Westinghouse was at the heart of the town and provided job alternatives to an area dominated by steel mills. The Girls Drum & Bugle Corps engaged the families of employees and helped sew company spirit in the community.
