Title loosely translated to Thoughts on fashion in the past or Historical collection of historical clothing, etc. Five octavo volumes printed on double leaves in Japanese stab bindings, profusely illustrated in color and b&w. A Very Good complete set with mild soil to wraps, heavier on volumes one and three. Overall bright and clean with infrequent mild foxing to the outer pages of the volumes. Later bookseller labels pasted over original labels on the covers (just peeking through on two of the volumes), numerical labels inside each cover.

Generously illustrated throughout the texts with many color plates peppered throughout. From uniforms to ceremonial garments, hats, shoes, fans, and other costume attire—the illustrations show individual items, color and pattern schemes, scenes from literature and historical contexts.
