Addition and Subtraction for School and Home Play (Educational Games card series)

Cincinnati, OH: The Cincinnati Game Co., 1902.

52 number game cards, 1 card with other titles in the series, 24pp rule booklet. Complete. 3.5 x 2.5 inches. Fine in a Very Good box that has some scuffing and discoloration; contents appear effectively untouched. The booklet outlines rules for two group games and a class exercise for Addition; three group games for Subtraction; and a game and exercise for the combined Addition and Subtraction.

One of a series of educational games published in the early 20th Century by the Cincinnati Game Company, formerly known as the Fireside Game Co., under the general editorship of Richard G. Boone. The mathematics games were developed by Cincinnati educator Earl Trisler under the editorship of David Eugene Smith at Columbia University, where the only copy listed in OCLC is located.

Cincinnati Game Co., formerly known as Fireside Game Co., was created by the United States Playing Card Company to sell their educational games outside the moral condemnation of playing cards that remained prevalent amongst parents and Christian communities. It faded from use by 1908.
