An early Zaner & Bloser publication which gives extensive instruction and justification for the method, which ultimately had workbooks and variations tailored to primary or business writing. This is not a copybook, but offers an abundance of exercises to be practised independently (noting the importance of conserving paper) as well as commentary on the relationship of the letters as shapes ("the l begins with an i", "the y is an inverted h") and some excellent mottos. Additional lettering alphabets provided at the end and wonderfully graphic gestural illustrations. Scarce.
