Bertha von Marenholtz-B?low was a German noblewoman and educator who is best known for her work in spreading the kindergarten concept through Europe. She was a friend of Friedrich Fr?bel, the founder of kindergarten, and she became his disciple after meeting him in 1850. She wrote several books about kindergarten education, including Reminiscences of Friedrich Froebel, The New Education by Work, and Woman's Educational Mission. She founded the International Froebel Union in 1874, which helped to spread kindergarten education throughout the world. This particular work deals with songs and hand gestures as developmental activities aligned with Froebel Mother Songs/Mutter und Koselieder. Scarce First American edition, 4 copies in OCLC.
