Correlated Handwriting Practice Book 7 (The Zaner-Bloser Co. penmanship copybook)

Columbus, OH: Zaner-Bloser Co., 1936.

Square 8vo, 32pp. Copyright 1927-1931; this edition copyrighted in the Philippines, 1936. Developed by University of Chicago professor Frank Freeman to be a largely self-guided penmanship study for students in seventh grade/middle school. Unlike primary penmanship books, the lessons allow for some personalization of style while encouraging students to identify and rectify their own problem areas. As a result, many of the exercises resemble drawing and mark-making practices. 5 pages have been completed by a Richard Miller, who doodled on the lightly soiled covers, but left the rest of the contents clean and unmarked. Fun fact: Zaner Bloser handwriting lessons are still produced today--you can download PDFs of lessons with QR codes from their website.
