An anthology of poetic musings worked into a narrative of young stargazers connecting their awe of the night sky with awe of God and promise of their souls. In contrast to the growing number of illustrated astronomy texts being produced for juvenile audiences, Evenings Among the Stars is a strictly literary and descriptive tour of the heavens. The lack of pictorial elements is even emphasized by having a half-title for a frontis.
