Dixon, D.

Rapid Writing (drop title: Self-Instructor in Business Penmanship and Rapid Writing...)

[London]: No date, ca. 1880-1890. Oblong 12mo, [20]p. Staplebound with splitting to the upper part of the fold, soil to wraps. A selection of alphabets and penman's tricks, including flourishing and reverse writing. A specimen written with the left hand (scandalous!) is accompanied by the ominous text, "If Boys are allowed to scrawl as they like now, it will be a serious drawback to them in after life." Advertises Dixon's "Paganini Pen! The Paragon of Perfection!! The pen for the times!!!" and "Dixon's unrivalled Chinese Dark Blue Ink," ostensibly the color the specimen pages are printed in; and lessons given by the "Prince of the Pen" via post. Rare; not in OCLC (different from the title held at Oxford dated 1889).
