Large 8vo, 398pp. In aptly hued burnt sienna pictorial cloth boards with beveled edges, gilt stamping, t.e.g. 3 maps at rear (2 folding); illustrated throughout with mystical-looking negative space engraved renderings of various coral specimens and a wild color lithographed frontispiece. Tissue guards present. Regions of focus include the Florida reefs, Fiji islands, Bahamas, Bermuda, etc. Clipping of Dana’s death notice from the New York Daily Tribune (April 15, 1895) laid in. About Near Fine, with a touch of rubbing to the extremities. From the library of Charles S. Shultz, former benefactor and President of the American Microscopical Society and the New York Microscopical Society and with his stamp on the front pastedown and preface page. An exceedingly nice copy of a pretty fantastic book.
