[manuscript letter, paper]
An excellent piece of paper (1866 unfolded "supposed answer to a valentine")
Dated February 15, 1866, "A supposed answer to a Valentine..." Laid paper with very pale blue ruling, no visible watermarks. Just over 8 x 10 inches. Small holes at the intersections of the folds, beautiful held up to the light. Strong geometrical lines, mixed with the visual texture where the bolder pen strokes remain. A beautiful image, object--and possibly text, which is only legible to the naked eye a few words at a time (and all the more irresistible for it).
