Twentieth edition, copyright 1877 but likely printed closer to 1900. Small oblong cloth 4to, 6.75 x 10.75 inches. Engraved title page + 31 numbered plates, COMPLETE. Near fine but for the misfortune of plate 14, Church Text, which was excised, sustained some wear at the corners, then reinserted with paper tape. A band of offsetting to each flyleaf and light fingersoil to the first plate, otherwise the volume appears effectively untouched. Plates of complete alphabets in both traditional and surprisingly modern-looking styles, plus several plates of technical indications and assorted ornaments, including decorative corners, monograms, and plates showing a mixture of lettering styles not included as full alphabets. A most desirable copy.
