Previous owner's signature on the front flyleaf; else clean and unmarked. Scarce work by the esteemed progressive educator and enthusiastic disciple of Froebel credited with creating the first kindergarten classroom in the United States. In 1890, he translated Froebel's Education of Man into English and became president of the Froebel Institute of North America.
