Softcover small 4to, 10.5 x 7.5 inches. A brilliant collection of Japanese graphic design from the seminal series on modern commercial art edited by Hamada Masuji and published in 24 volumes from 1928-1930. This volume covers print graphics for posters and book covers, printed in range of limited color palettes, plus two full color plates, a section of monochrome book binding plates, and numerous b&w illustrations throughout the essay section. Roughly collated [ii], 8, [iv], 16, 64, 54, [iii], the volume is unfortunately lacking 6 leaves (9-10 in the 16pp section; 1-2, 17-18, 37-38, 41-42 and 53-54 from the 64pp section, which is the multicolored plates). A Fair copy with its deficits, physically in Good to Very Good condition with intermittent soil and foxing, spine neatly restored with plain black paper covering. Lamentably incomplete, but still an exciting collection of graphic styles, triumph of printing and general visual delight.
