Compositional design and color theory drawings
Decorative arts training studies in compositional design incorporating shape and color, with emphasis on repeating patterns, created in France ca. 1920s-1940s. 13 loose leaves with original pen & ink and watercolor designs, bound with ribbon printed “Mignot...” Pages are unevenly sized, roughly 11 x 14 inches overall; Very Good with light toning and fingersoil, foredges with some bumping and handling wear. Instructor’s marking at rear. Last two leaves on color theory with a chromatic circle and value chart. The designs on the first leaf suggest tableware application, and the designs are suited to the format, showing assorted shapes for plates with patterns that are stylistically variously evocative of the 1920s-1940s.
