Word Making and Word Taking
A nice period example of the nineteenth century’s favorite word game, which had already been reincarnated as Anagrams and Words & Sentences by the time this was produced—but, it’s all letter tiles, at the end of the day. Brimming with thick letter tiles and housed in a box echoing a the red box design that was also used by Milton Bradley, McLoughlin Brothers, and Parker Brothers for various games at the turn of the century.
Embossed paper covered box, 8 x 5.5 inches. F. A. O. Schwartz label with its 5th Ave and 31st St, where they moved in 1910. Instructions mounted on the underside of the lid, marked J. W. Spear & Son, London (with J. W. S. & S. Bavaria trademark). Good only—box crushed at the top right corner, generally battered around the edges. Tiles still sturdy and clean.
