Spencerian Penmanship in Twelve Numbers (In an Improved Form of Copy-Book...) Envelope only!

An alternative format to the Specerian copybooks that provided "12 Sheets of Best Writing Paper, with 24 headlines of Copies of Spencerian Penmanship, in an Improved Form of Copy-Book, Patented, by N. P. Beers, June 7th, 1870." Envelope only, 9 x 7.5 inches, with bold cover graphic engraved by A. McLees. Moderate general soil, stain to the bottom right corner, roughly torn along the right edge. An unusual vehicle for instruction in the popular Spencerian style, unfortunately lacking the original paper slips but evidence of the uncommon "Improved Form" that didn't seem to gain much traction.
