Ads at front and rear, some illustrated; running ad copy alternates at the bottom of each page. Despite its modest appearance, an exciting insider guide to the lives of fashionable New Orleans ladies and their universe of social clubs.
Among the ads for shoes, printers, druggists, etc., are several for women's solo ventures, including organist and choir director Irene Mary Wiggins, piano teacher Stella Whitehurst, and "artistic florist" Mrs. E. del Corral. Noted in Thomas Payne Thompson's "Louisiana writers native and resident" (1904, p.45) and Index to a Collection of Americana (1912, p. 127). OCLC shows an 1899/1900 New Orleans' society reference. A directory of selected names... attributed to Pasteur, and a Society's ready reference, dated 1900, with only a handful of copies of either in institutional holdings.
