A Note on Color for Teachers of Elementary Schools

First Edition. Springfield, MA: Milton Bradley Company, 1903.

Half cloth 4to, 48pp + 12 color plates, complete. Good- condition: Soil and discoloration to boards, chipping to the paper covering. A faint tidemark to the lower right corner, foxing to the outer pages, slightly musty. A manual for teaching color theory to children, first published in 1902. Emphasizes the role of color in understanding the environment: "We are more or less surrounded by the sky, and most of us have glimpses of it during the day, but until the systematic study of its color is begun, few find themselves able to express any of its relation to the earth." Color lithograph charts and illustrations, as well as a "Scale of Hues," illustrated with a mounted “keyboard” of 90 color tiles. A decent copy of this scarce title.
