Letter to Bunny, who's just got married and is setting up house in Canada

Gananoque, Canada: [correspondence], n.d..

Gananoque, Ont. Mar 27.
Dear Bunny,

And so it is all over and done. Hope you are very, very happy in your new home and that all went off as merry as a Marriage Ball should go — not a cloud to mar the rosy sunrise of your new venture along your flower-strewn path. True you have had one or two weeds in your path lately, but I am sure some your battle is of the [last]; really and everything is lovely.

Is it all over; the hanging of the crane in the new house—I know, dear child, that in an apartment it is a sort of mental ceremony rather than actual because you do not expect to leave it out there. You have different hopes and ambitions for a home, but in the meantime, I hope you like this one very much and I know you will derive real joy from decking it to your hearts desire

I am glad if you liked the pie and cake servers I hope you did not receive too many of them. But if you did and should feel inclined to change them for something you need more or like better, do so. I would understand, truly. That was rather neat the way we avoided the customs duty, both ways. I rather admired it myself.

I should like to see a press description of the wedding—I hope your mother brings one this summer. We will miss you very much—just knowing you are not there Lewis is more than a little in love with you. He hopes Charles appreciates what a nice girl you are. That is great fear—that men do not appreciate girls—such a quaint notion for a 12 yr old. He is in Windsor with Eleanor for Easter. A deadly calm broods o’er our humble home on Garden Street. [scribble] a ink spot where I had to dip my pen, please forgive.

Aunty sends her love and best wishes for your happiness also myself. Bunny, dear perhaps I shall meet ‘Charles’ this year.

With love,

Anna Jane.
