An example of patent medicine advertising that targets men, without the products being specifically for men's health. The cover pictures a blacksmith and a farmer, and instead of household hints and recipes, the content includes "Facts for Builders," "Amount of barbed wire required for fences," and "Quantity of seed needed to plant an acre." A bit of almanac content, with monthly calendar running April-December, 1892, featuring the predictions of American Methodist minister and "Storm Prophet," Irl R. Hicks. "Tar Wine Lung Balm" (does not contain opium!) and "Volcanic Oil Liniment" were among McLean's offerings.
